Hobby Hub
A new weekly program for teens ages 14–18
in Tillsonburg & area
Hobby Hub is a safe, welcoming space where teens can:
Try new hobbies weekly
Develop skills for the real world
Hang out
Make new friends
So, why Hobby Hub?
A recent survey in Oxford County found that many local teens feel there aren’t enough things for them to do outside of school and organized sports.
And while sports are a great fit for many young people, they aren't for everyone.
The idea for Hobby Hub began when Telos Academy founder Alex Grindlay asked local parents and teens:
“Hypothetically, if we were going to put together a program for teens, what would you want that to look like?”
Parents talked about art, creativity, and leadership.
But one teen gave an answer that really stuck with us:
“We just want a place to hang out where grown-ups won’t treat us like we’re annoying.”
And that’s exactly the kind of space we want to create.
A Space Designed for Teens
Hobby Hub isn't about filling every minute with structured activities.
It's about creating the right balance between structured learning and unstructured time — giving teens the freedom to socialize, explore, create, and figure out what interests them.
Our goal is to give teens the space they want while providing the guidance, opportunities, and support they need to grow into confident, capable young adults.
Here’s how Hobby Hub works:
Teens gather ages 14-18 gather each Monday evening from 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm at Indigo Lounge.
Each week will include a combination of:
Hangout and Downtime
Time to relax, play games, talk, connect, and simply enjoy being around other teens in a welcoming environment.
Exploring New Hobbies
Each week, teens will have the opportunity to try a different hobby, skill, or activity they may not otherwise have access to.
Think crochet, coding, entrepreneurship, game design, art, e-commerce, creative projects — and much more.
Diving into Passions
When a teen discovers something they love, they can choose to spend more time exploring and developing that interest.
The hobby of the week is always optional. Teens are never required to participate in an activity simply because it's on the schedule.
Build Real World Skills
We'll introduce teens to practical skills that help prepare them for life beyond high school, including entrepreneurship, leadership, creativity, problem-solving, and other skills they can carry into adulthood.
Make New Friends
Most importantly, Hobby Hub is a place to connect.
A place where teens can meet other young people, build friendships, and feel comfortable being themselves.
Our first meeting is November 2.
Because we have limited space, we can only take up to 20 teens in this initial registration.
